Synopsis

The clam is a source of fantasies and questions.

The isolated atoll of Reao, in the Tuamotu archipelago, has only 350 inhabitants and is renowned for its exceptional natural stock of clams, a shellfish with tasty flesh that is important in Polynesian culture.

A victim of its success, the wild clam is now an endangered species. For the island's fish farmers, there is an urgent need to develop a new breeding industry and move towards sustainable management of this resource and start a lasting economic activity.
