Synopsis

The fate of the Polynesians is intricately linked to the ocean.

Faced with the alarming decline in marine resources, they have reintroduced an ancestral practice called "rahui". This is a traditional concept of fallowing, the principles, and laws of which are defined by the community.

In Tahiti, the municipality of Teahupoo is a pioneer in biodiversity management. Since 2014, it has created a 700-hectare protected area in the form of rahui.
