COSTA RICA: A ROLE MODEL FOR THE PLANET?
An episode from the series EARTH ON EDGE
Small country in Central America, Costa Rica is now home to 5% of the global biodiversity. National parks and protected natural sites account for a quarter of its area. The country benefits from its valuable assets in order to no longer depend on coal nor oil: in early 2015, all of the electricity used by 5 million was drawn from volcanoes, hydroelectric dams and other renewable energies. But the climate changes have a real impact on the territory. Costa Rica is then looking for a solution to limit the damage.
