Even more than eighty years after the facts, memories of the Spanish Civil War blend into those of the International Brigades. The epic story of these 40.000 warriors from 50 different countries may now be considered as symbolic as the Chanson de Geste, in that it embodies the fight for freedom against cruelty.
This documentary aims to tell the true story of these fighters, who from 1936 to 1939 came to share their fates with those of the Spanish people - from the glory of brotherly heroism to the darkness of the purges and the criminal underworld.
